Like, jin and matthew are in a relationship with tender feelings towards the other, when Jin said that. Meanwhile his previous relationship with brandon was probably moreso based on sex, drugs and attraction than it was feelings.
So, the two relationships are quite different, and jin was reassuring matthew that the relationship between him and brandon is nothing like the tender happiness he has in his relationship with matthew.
