Kiss Me If You Can [NOVEL] - Chapter 31
“You’re going to take the medicine?”
Josh asked back at Laura’s words, which he pulled out while filming. Still can’t Chase get along without drugs? He was curious, and he suddenly realized that he hadn’t seen Chase take medicine recently. If that’s the case, there will be quite a few remaining medicines, so can’t she get it later? But Laura nodded, who was not aware of the situation.
“Yes, it’s time to fall. If it’s okay, why don’t you give me a ride? My car tire is flat. Okay?”
Laura smiled as if sorry. It was that kind of kindness that he could give as much as he wanted, but the problem was Chase. It wasn’t hard to imagine him, who was obviously going to be misunderstood and be jealous because Laura and him were going out alone, and Josh smiled as usual.
“Don’t do that, how about I just go alone?”
“Yes? Can you do that?”
Laura asked in amazement. Josh said yes and nodded.
“I just need to get the medicine? Then I think I can go alone.”
He wanted to ask what it would be like to reduce the combined use of the drug. He hasn’t been able to completely trust that Steward doctor yet, but he can’t do anything else. Without knowing his mind at all, Laura said, antagonistically.
“If you do that, of course, thank you…”
Josh asks, frowning on her forehead, as if getting a headache.
“What… is it related to Mr. Miller?”
Is it because of the schedule? Josh guessed, but he was wrong. Laura shook her head and complained in a weary voice.
“There was a lawsuit. Well, uh, remember the last time Mr. Miller had another problem, right?”
Josh had to rush through memories. It’s because there weren’t one or two things that came to mind. Fortunately, Laura came up with the answer first.
“That’s why, the case where he bit the other actor’s tongue… Fortunately, the operation went well, but it took several months to be cured. In the meantime, I’ve been asking for treatment or compensation for damages. If we don’t listen, they’ll sue us.”
Laura complained.
“So I contacted Mr. Nathaniel Miller, and he said that he’s busy right now and he can’t afford to go to trial on this side. I hung up the phone. I was confused and contacted Mr. Grayson Miller.”
For some reason, it seemed that Josh already knew what to say next. With a sigh, Laura added.
“The lawyer said he wasn’t doing his defense, so he said, “It’s annoying, so he just told me to give it.”
I knew it.
“It was unbelievable, so when he told me the amount he wanted, I was bothered…. I said that it would cost more fees to Mr. Nathaniel Miller. That’s true. Even so, it’s so easy to say that…. Besides, the film company also produced it. “
Oh my God, Laura lamented again because this was delayed, but when she suddenly felt the wall of reality, it was Laura who had been working with them like a pro. She used to think deeply about what life was, ha ha, with a sigh, she muttered.
“I don’t know what life was like for such a rich man all my life”
Josh replied insignificantly.
“Don’t worry, those people too will never know what our life is like. ”
“That’s right.”
Laura stopped laughing. Josh also looked down at her with a smile around his mouth. After laughing, she felt relieved, and Laura opened her mouth with a lightened face.
“Then I’ll ask, Josh. I’ll call Steward on the phone.”
“Yes, I see.”
After a brief greeting, Josh checked the time. In the afternoon, Seth decided to keep the filming site, so he thought he could go there in between.
He should also ask about medicine.
He shouldn’t stop taking the medicine, but it would be okay to reduce it by consulting. Considering the previous overdose causing problems, it was a matter to consider. Josh counted the time in his head, thinking about how to talk to Steward.
✤✤✤✤✤✤
As soon as it was time for a break, Chase looked for someone. Laura, who quickly approached and checked his condition, asked, wondering.
“Do you need anything?”
Soon Chase’s gaze turned to her. The unpleasantly distorted brow made her feel a bad premonition. Laura was nervous and noticed.
“No, nothing.”
Fortunately, Chase spoke as if tossing, then turned his head away. With a visibly sighing, Laura hurried to speak.
“It’s time to run out of medicine? If you have any discomfort, please tell me. Josh is going to take the medicine today.”
Chase’s gaze turned back to her, terrifying to the end. Chase opened his mouth to Laura, amazed.
“Why Joshua?”
“…? Yes, I had to go, but my tires are flat. I asked for a ride and he said that he would go alone.”
It wasn’t necessary to say this, Laura thought of it late, but it was after she had already confessed everything. The good news was that after listening to the story, Chase’s expression was slightly softened.
“What about the changed medicine? Was there any inconvenience? Can I ask for the same medicine?”
The answer he returned to the questions repeatedly was frustratingly short.
“Do whatever you feel like.”
“Oh, yes…”
Laura shuddered with embarrassment. During the 30-minute break, Chase used to check his makeup and outfits for the next scene, but today, there’s a long time left to wait so she didn’t have much to deal with.
He sat in the prepared chair, pulled out a cigarette and bit it in his mouth. Drinking smoke slowly was so beautiful that her heart stopped at any time, so it took her eyes away at once. Even though she couldn’t see him after hearing all kinds of harsh words, only when he was like this, she would forget everything and look at him without hesitation.
After, Chase spit out long smoke. There was no blood on his pale cheeks. The gaze looking at the far-off place seemed vain as if it would disappear at once.
Laura has always wondered why Chase Miller had such empty eyes. Isn’t he a man who has everything from wealth, fame, and appearance.
Again, after not finding an answer, just looking at him, Chase opened his mouth.
“I have something to ask the security team leader, tell him to come this way.”
“Okay.”
Laura hurriedly turned around and made a call. Suddenly, she saw Naomi walking towards them. Soon, a connection sound was heard, and Laura told him what to do in a hurry.
“Chase, can you give me some cigarettes?”
Naomi asked. Chase silently pulled out the iron case from the inside of the suit’s jacket.
“Thank you, what is it?”
Naomi smiled with a single smile, took out one, put it in her mouth, and returned the case.
“What are you worried about?”
Chase lifted his head at Naomi’s words as she asked with smoke. Naomi smiled at Chase, who looked at herself with a frown.
“Because you look worried.”
“Do not care.”
“I want to, but if you’re not in good condition, it affects me as well. I’m glad if it doesn’t matter.”
Chase was silent again. Naomi, who glanced down at him, got a little luck.
“Is it because of what I said last time? Sleeping with you while having a partner?”
Suddenly Chase raised his head. It was obvious that he was caught in his heart, but it seemed that he had no intention of hiding it. Naomi flinched at Chase’s gaze, staring at himself with a pale face, but pretending to be okay, biting a cigarette in her mouth.
“It’s not a difficult guess, isn’t it?”
Naomi laughed like she was having fun. Chase turned his head without saying anything. Naomi opened her mouth as she looked down at him smoking a cigarette, seriously twisting her eyebrows.
“Is she a married woman?”
“Noisy.”
“It looks right.”
“…”
Chase, breathing in smoke nervously, spit out roughly.
“They have a child, but they’re not married…. maybe.”
The last word was added without confidence. Naomi felt a strange feeling when she saw him nervously sweeping his hair.
Although they are brothers, Grayson and Chase were so different. Compared to Grayson, who always scratches his face with a smile, she felt sorry for Chase. He is at least human.
Grayson seemed to have made up a smile as well.
Naomi inhales cigarette smoke with a frown. Chase’s head shone in his line of sight. It’s not a common experience to see a man’s head over six feet long. The thick, stuffed hair was somehow cute.
Oh, you must be crazy.
Surprised by herself, Naomi opened her mouth.
“I propose to you.”
Suddenly Chase raised his head. Naomi shrugged, but pretended nothing was wrong.
“So what happened? You know, whether or not she is a married woman.”
“Oh?” and Naomi blinked. Her head is spinning quite a bit. She thinly folded her eyes and laughed.
“If she has a heart, she’ll get a divorce. Anyway, she can’t choose either way. If she gets a proposal, then she’ll find it easy for her to make up her mind, you understand ?”
Chase said nothing. It was just smoked smokers with a serious face. Excitingly watching his reaction, his bodyguards hurried to walk. After that, he also saw Laura.
“Mr. Miller, what’s going on?”
Chase looked up at Mark’s question. Unfortunately, it was time to leave now. Naomi pretended not to know and left. Looking back, Chase was asking Mark for something.
Curious inside, Naomi took a step.
Who is the married woman who joked with that Chase Miller?
✤✤✤✤✤✤
“Yes?”
Mark blinked in surprise. He couldn’t figure out why he was deliberately calling someone up to this point and asking for something like this, but the man in front of him supported it.
“Is it true that Joshua has children?”
There was nothing different about asking again. Confused, Mark nodded. Immediately, the blood drained from Chase’s face. With a hasty touch, he took the cigarette to his mouth. As the faintly trembling fingers pulled the cigarette off his lips, smoke came out. After, and let out the smoke, Chase opened his mouth.
“… So, is he married?”
He could hide the faint trembling, but he couldn’t help it until the words were cut off. Mark replied, looking anxiously at his unusually pale face.
“Uh, no. I know he has just a child. His mother left them a few years ago, I think … “
” … “
” Well, Mr. Miller? “
As Mark cautiously called him, Chase lifted his hand, biting a cigarette in his mouth. Chase, left alone, threw away the shortened cigarette and picked up the case. He took out a new cigarette and tried to bite it, but his unsatisfied hand stopped and dropped it on the floor.
The case was opened with a metal note, and a cigarette was drawn on the dirt. Laura’s secretary, who had been watching from a few steps away, hurried up to organize them. Chase simply looked at it silently.
<Proposal.>
Like the sound of Siren’s song, Naomi’s voice revived strangely in Chase’s ears.
✤✤✤✤✤✤
The road from the set to the hospital was quiet. As soon as he recalled that he was terrorized while driving down the road just a while ago, Josh was in a bad mood.
Soon his thoughts turned to Chase. He wanted to hear the story in person, but he didn’t have a chance because the filming came first. Instead, as Laura gave him, there was no particular problem, so he could just take the medicine he was taking. Fortunately, the changed drug did not show any side effects yet until whether it was well suited to Chase.
It’s true that he hasn’t taken the medicine properly lately, and the condition of Chase seems to have stabilized a lot.
On one hand, he was curious, but on the other hand, the doctor wasn’t shy. When he remembered him laughing with a strange face, his eyes frowned.
No matter how much he thinks about it, there seems to be something.
However, the results of the police investigation were clear. With the conclusion that Steward was innocent, Josh could no longer raise doubts about him.
“Damn it.”
Josh swears low and stepped on the accelerator. Still feeling uncomfortable, he rushed to the hospital at a rapid pace.
✤✤✤✤✤✤
“Come on, you were Chase’s bodyguard? Your name?”
Like last time, Steward sat alone in the doctor’s office, where he wasn’t able to use the web. The friendly voice and tone seemed like a kind doctor no matter where he looked, but Josh replied without releasing his alertness.
“This is Bailey. I’m here to get Mr. Miller’s medicine.”
Josh, who taught him the last name instead of the first name, turned.
“There is no particular problem with the changed medicine. I would like you to prescribe him the same medicine.”
“Oh, is that so good?”
Steward was insignificantly picked up, and soon stood up.
“Then, let’s go to the counseling room. I’m supposed to do prescriptions there.”
Josh thought it was worth seeing the lack of a common writing instrument on the desk. Even so, wouldn’t it be quite inefficient to move around buildings like this? Josh frowned slightly as he walked through the large lot behind Steward. Without questioning him, Steward familiarly crossed the garden and entered another building. It was the building where you were invited to receive a suspicious chocolate.
“Hi.”
The receptionist’s staff with a professional smile had a different face than before. Not surprisingly, no previous employee was seen. Josh should ask about her, then quit. It was because he was reluctant to find out the back of others, and he already knew the result.
“Oh, Mr. Steward, you have a reservation in 30 minutes.”
Soon, the staff spoke to Steward who headed to his counseling room. Stewart glanced back and replied with a smile.
“Can I go in?”
“Yes sir.”
The employee smiled at Josh again. Josh also laughed briefly and then followed Steward’s footsteps.
He didn’t know it for Josh, because Isaac followed him last time, but as he walked behind Steward, he felt a strange sense of tension and compression inside the building.
The corridor without any decorations was not hung with a common frame, let alone a window. All he could hear was the footsteps of Stewart and Josh. Josh thought if he had claustrophobia, he might have a seizure here.
Still, Stewart continued to walk. He couldn’t figure out how long he was walking, and why the consultation room was so dusty.
Wouldn’t there be a mental illness jsut by staying here?
When he thought so, Steward finally stopped. When the door opened and the scenery inside came into view, Josh vomited a tight sigh.
Steward who went inside first opened the curtains and immediately bright sunlight poured in. He waited for Josh to come in and then opened his mouth.
“Would you like snacks or tea?”
“No, thanks.”
He didn’t want to eat a single peanut here. When he refused with a hardened face, Steward tilted his head and laughed.
“It’s a pity to choose a snack every time I work hard.”
Josh said nothing. His mind was very complicated because he didn’t know how to deal with a man he could read. Leaving Josh alone, Steward turned around his desk and went inside to open the book. Having prepared a prescription and a pen, he began to write without looking at previous records.
“Do I have to check the prescription?”
Josh, who had become anxious, asked a quick question, and Steward looked up and looked at him.
“It’s okay, it’s all stored here.”
Tapping his head with his second finger, he smiled brightly. Josh couldn’t say anything more, so he just shut his mouth. He just watched Steward write the prescription, and he opened his mouth, still bowing his head.
“Why don’t you sit down for a while? It will take a while. As you know, I have a lot of medicine to take.”
“…Is there any way to reduce the medication? “
He asked without missing the opportunity, but Steward replied indifferently without even giving a glance.
“If he quit the medication, he would not be able to handle it. It could cause seizures, because he is so sensitive.”
Josh said after a while.
“He hasn’t taken the medicine in the last few days and he’s doing well.”
When he heard those words, Steward stopped the pen. Before long, the smile disappeared from his face for the first time, raising his head. Instead, Steward opened his mouth with a suspicious look.
“He didn’t take medicine. Mr. Miller?”
“Yes.”
Josh nodded and said to the best of his knowledge.
“He didn’t keep taking sleeping pills, and I thought he skipped the medication a few times. But it didn’t do anything that caused seizures or threatened.”
“…Oh”
Steward blinked, spitting out just that one word like a sigh. Josh added patiently.
“Wouldn’t it be nice to try reducing the dose?”
“Well… if that’s true, it’s great.”
Hmm, looking at his thoughtful expression, Josh silently waited for an answer. He was still suspicious of Steward, but he also took into account the fact that his profession as a doctor could not help. Well, as if concluding, Steward opened his mouth.
“Then I will do this. I will give the medicine as prescribed, so don’t reduce it arbitrarily, but take it as it is. Instead, set a date as soon as possible, and when he comes to the hospital, I’ll change the prescription or reduce the medicine after getting an appropriate examination. It’s not good, because withdrawal symptoms can occur.”
“Yes, alright…. Thank you.”
It wasn’t a bad conclusion anyway. When he said thanks without knowing it, Steward tilted his head with an ambiguous expression. Josh realized that he had said an inappropriate greeting, but he didn’t try to fix it. As soon as he pretended not to know, Steward looked at him and smiled strangely.
“But how did you know that? Chase was filtering the pills.”
“Just by chance, time passed, and I’ve seen some medicines left.”
At Josh’s wits, Steward said, “Is that so?” and narrowed his eyes.
“Sleeping pills?”
“Yeah.”
If you answer for a long time, the tail will be stepped on. Josh threw a short word and shut his mouth shut.
For a while, Steward looked at him silently. Josh also didn’t speak. Tension continued with the cool silence. Josh pretended not to know and looked at him naturally. The side that can’t stand the pressure is losing. Of course, it wasn’t Josh who lost.
Steward, who had been watching so quietly for a while, shrugged abruptly. As if it was done now. And he soon casually turned his attention back to the prescription.
“Anyway, it’s a good thing if he got better, I was worried that even a dominant alpha would have some obviously bad results if he took so many drugs.”
Josh felt weird when he heard that Steward was worried about Chase. As he turned his gaze silently, he added insignificantly.
“I was wondering if he should stop getting the injections now. He has too many medicines to eat, but he can also take pheromone by injection. I can’t help it because he can’t have sex, but if he only rely on injections, his arm will rot someday. If you cut his arm, I can’t help it. Wouldn’t he be in trouble?”
“…Yeah?
It seemed like he had heard something weird, and Josh inadvertently asked. Steward continued to write down the prescription, and he said:
“Well, it’s not that I don’t understand, but he’s in his own delusion with something that doesn’t exist, and that’s why he’s so self-educational. That’s really bad.”
At first he didn’t realize know what that meant. It was a few seconds later that Josh figured out what it meant.
“What is that? No way, then…”
It was when Josh, who stuttered in embarrassment, swallowed dry saliva. Suddenly, a cool voice came from behind.
“Are you going to tell the patient’s secrets, is that okay doctor?”
With a familiar voice, Josh looked back without knowing himself. Steward also stood up from his seat with a surprised expression. An unexpected man opened the door of the consultation room and stood. there.
“Grayson”
The voice of Steward, exceptionally significant in the calm, has been ringing in his ears. Josh’s income statement recalled the words of the receptionist staff, reservations are held.
In an unexpected situation, he was just standing with a blink of an eye.
