Kiss Me If You Can [NOVEL] - Chapter 17
“Hello, Mr. Miller. We haven’t seen each other for a long time. How have you been?”
When Chase showed up at the office, the editor-in-chief, who had been waiting for him, approached him first and greeted him cheerfully. Chase only looked at him once without giving him an answer and turned his head again. It was an embarrassing situation for everyone present, but the editor casually changed the subject as if nothing had happened.
“We’re ready to shoot. Miller’s makeup and hair must be prepped. I also have some clothes ready to change. The interview will take place after the filming is finished. The interviewer will be here soon. Everybody is waiting, so let’s go. Ann, please show it to Mr. Miller.”
“Yes, come this way.”
The secretary, who seemed somewhat nervous, hastily guided him. After Chase left, the manager and the rest of the staff followed him. Seth and Henry followed them too.
Josh followed in Mark’s footsteps as scheduled, turning in the opposite direction along with Isaac. The team was very nervous at the memory of the fans coming and going like crazy the last time.
“You have to do painstaking work.”
Mark had already said the same thing several times. As the other members were completely understanding, they nodded silently.
The route has already been confirmed. The building’s schedule and structure were also checked every 30 minutes. Although it was a controlled situation, the tension was overflowing, because they knew what could happen when the person they had to protect was Chase Miller.
Josh stared at Chase as soon as he appeared before leaving. He didn’t look back at him, as if he wasn’t there. He had been ignoring him all day, as he had been locked in his room. It was strange to pretend not to know.
Josh made his own reasonable guess. Chase had always ignored him and everyone else, so it was nothing new. However, he thought he would be more sensitive about what happened the day before.
Perhaps for that reason the smell of pheromones feels more intense than usual . Josh, without paying much attention, followed Mark into the study. Not long after Chase and his group disappeared, the door suddenly opened and a man appeared.
“Oh, everyone has been waiting. Sorry I’m late, sorry!”
Everyone’s gaze turned to the booming voice of the man. They all managed to hold their sighs in that moment.
The man’s name is Duncan Conrad . He was a model and actor who was in the midst of rising stock prices, but had recently announced his exclusive transfer as an actor. He was a man with a beautiful stature and an attractive appearance, like a former model, but unfortunately, he had not shown good acting skills. However, they were constantly building fandom and filling in a pretty good filmography with the sponsorship of management companies. At this rate, everyone expected him to reach a decent level. Only if he watches his mouth.
“I’m sorry I kept you waiting.” The manager, who was following him, smiled and apologized. He lowered his voice and added quietly, “Don’t provoke Chase too much, Duncan.”
Although he warned him patiently, Duncan ignored him. The manager was always concerned about his habit of going too far, sometimes because of his desire to make his name known. Also, today’s partner was Chase Miller. If you thought about the rumors circulating about Chase, it was hard to imagine what would happen if he made a taunt for no reason.
But for Duncan, who was eager to become famous, this was a great opportunity. The partner was none other than Chase Miller, and it was clear that his appreciation would increase ten times more than it is now. The manager could hope that he would provoke Chase by any means. Hope all is well. He ran after Conrad with a worried look.
“Did you know that Miller is also filming with me?”
Conrad barely kept his enthusiasm in check, and the manager responded sheepishly to the question.
“Well, it’s a long story, but …”
Duncan also knew the meaning of the end of his words. Chase, of course, was unaware of Duncan, not before or now. It has always affected Conrad’s inferiority complex. In a recent interview on the street, one in 20 people recognized his face and all they had to think about was “looks familiar.”
However, when Conrad learned the news of the injuries sustained on the day of the interview due to the crowd clamoring for Chase, he was unable to sleep for several days due to jealousy that went beyond envy. From that day on, Duncan hated Chase deeply, and this time he would let him know for sure. He hoped that day was today.
Conrad gritted his teeth. They would do a perfect job of photo shoots and interviews. Chase Miller was flawless despite the gossip. Plus, he was now enjoying his best days as a leading supporting actor in one of the most notorious movies. The movie, which was supposed to be shot with Duncan, would have overlapping filming schedules, so it was even better. People would now see Duncan as a match for Chase. It wouldn’t be long before the world recognized that Chase Miller is nothing compared to Duncan Conrad.
You will regret not recognizing me until now.
Duncan entered the studio excited, and when he finally mentioned the first greeting he had prepared, he was already confident of his victory. He did not even notice the faces of the people who were already nervous, since he had intentionally arrived later than the appointed time, just as he had calculated to do. As a result, his shyness increased even more as everyone focused their gaze on him.
“You’re late, Duncan. Let’s get ready.”
The surrounding staff rushed to prepare it. Duncan looked around him.
“Is Chase Miller still here?”
He asked the staff when he felt a prick in his heart, wondering if his plan to show up at the last minute had gone wrong.
“No, he came first and now he’s getting ready. We will take the photos separately and have an interview later. Hurry because time is running out.”
Duncan smirked at her nervous words.
“Of course.”
✤✤✤✤✤✤
Filming was smooth. With the atmosphere so stark, only the photographer’s voice and shutter sounds were heard from time to time, but so far, it has been an easy process. More than anything else, the important factor was that Chase was complying. He was changing his clothes and posing just as he was told. If he didn’t cause any incidents, everything would end up going well and everyone would be able to peacefully return to their homes. Of course, that was what everyone wanted.
“Come on, it’s over. It was wonderful, Mr. Miller. It’s amazing.”
The photographer enthusiastically praised him announcing the ending. After the last cut, the photographer seemed to be in love with him. That was something that happened very often. Chase Miller is the best in the world . Unable to bear his passion, the photographer ran up to him and praised him.
“It’s the best photo I’ve ever taken. I can’t believe I’m doing this kind of work. Mr. Miller, I don’t have any photos to throw away. I can’t believe I have to choose only four of them … I can send you all the photos I took so what should I do? I’d like to make it public if I could, but I’m sorry people don’t appreciate them …”
But Chase’s response was cold. The photographer might have been embarrassed by his attitude and left without even looking at his admirer, but the admirer smiled as if he was expecting it. He immediately followed Chase and asked:
“I wish I had another chance like this. I’m very sorry for the time I took from you. I would like to photograph you more in the future.”
Leaving him behind staring at the camera with a sigh, the manager led Chase into the other room where the interview was scheduled.
“From now on, Mr. Conrad will start the photo shoot. In the meantime, we will interview Mr. Miller, and by the end of the interview, Mr. Conrad will have finished filming. So the two of you will answer a few questions together and the schedule will be over. Then Duncan will remain alone for a personal interview.”
The manager was eager to say something that might upset Chase’s temper. It was a pre-scheduled interview and everyone was waiting for it, so this interview could not be turned down. This was because Duncan was also cast in the movie that Chase had signed. Both the film producer and the magazine could not resist this interesting combination.
They wouldn’t mind putting a famous actor on a hot topic. Still, if Chase had refused to do so, they could have resisted it somehow, but in the end he did not turn down the interview. Of course, the manager’s little bully was involved here. Knowing the personality of Chase, who is not interested in anyone but himself, he did not ask exactly what kind of man Duncan was. On the other hand, Chase didn’t even know his name, so he was given minimal information.
“You are going to interview me with an actor who is filming the same movie.”
The manager looked nervous as Chase responded to the interview with a blank face. As the time for the double interview approached, the inside of his mouth was beginning to burn. He just wanted Chase to respond moderately to Duncan’s provocation, enough to make headlines. Finally, Duncan finished filming and walked into the studio.
✤✤✤✤✤✤
I finally see that big face. Duncan thought sarcastically to himself. Isn’t it about the color of his eyes? He is a little more handsome than the others . He had seen Chase Miller’s face countless times in photos, but Duncan was sure he would not lose to him. He was also a great model walking numerous runway finals himself and had received endless accolades so far throughout his life. If it wasn’t an exaggeration, people wouldn’t love it that much. Duncan was sure, Chase Miller is nothing compared to himself. With such confidence, he opened the door without knocking.
… What?
The first sweet smell made him hesitate. It was a seductive scent, as if his brain were going to melt in a moment of enchantment. It was the first time in his life that his heart beat like this. If a perfume smelled that scent, it was clear that he would try to figure out how to make it on par with his soul. But it was not a perfume that someone had created with all their eagerness. The moment he saw Chase Miller, Duncan realized where the scent came from.
Chase wore a gray suit and a coat of the same color, but darker, draped over his shoulders. When he looked into Chase’s stately face, sitting in a round, backless chair and looking away casually with an unlit cigarette between his fingers, Duncan stopped breathing. Oh my God.
The saliva, now dry, stopped flowing. His face on the screen was all a lie. No one could capture the unique atmosphere of Chase’s strange coexistence. That mix of overwhelming presence and contrasting futility. Slowly, each time Chase blinked, the reappearing purple eyes made his vanity stand out more.
Is that Chase Miller? Duncan thought in a daze. The fighting spirit and desire that had filled him so far had faded and it felt like they were fleeing somewhere. His mind went blank as the sweet scent continued to drift from the tip of his nose. All of his senses became dull as if paralyzed, but his heart was pounding with particular violence. He wanted to turn his head, but couldn’t. Duncan, helpless, could only watch him.
He heard the sound of the camera shutter from somewhere far away. It was not known whether the photographer decided to take a photo during the interview or instinctively pressed the shutter without any established script. But when Chase swept his soft blond hair with the hand that held the cigarette, it was clear that everyone had stopped breathing. Then Duncan thought:
Even if there is a war to catch this guy, I’m sure you would understand the moment you find him. At the same time, he realized the sense of defeat he had just felt. He gritted his teeth in suppressed rage.
✤✤✤✤✤✤
Do you think they are finished by now?
Josh entered the study without hesitation. Since he was in charge, he only looked around to see if there were dangerous objects or people in the building, including the office. For him, it was a good opportunity to avoid Chase’s pheromones. When he opened the door early, the interviewer was already firing him.
“… Thank you for being here today. Do you have any last words to say to your fans?”
Josh walked along the wall making as little noise as he could. At another time, he would have been fully prepared to move his body immediately.
“Well,” Chase Miller’s voice said suddenly. “I hope a lot of people come to see my movie.”
“Of course. Chase Miller’s movie is a must-see and I’m looking forward to seeing it too.”
Unlike Chase’s words, which appear to be annoying, the interviewer’s response was enthusiastic.
I thought it was over, but there was one more thing left.
“They have a joint interview,” whispered the manager who was waiting to the side.
Josh nodded,
Ah, should I look around one more time? Josh tried to sneak out of the place, but it was late, the door had already closed. Stuck to the wall, he had to wait for the interview to end.
“… So what do you think about each other’s roles …?”
The interviewer continued with the question in a friendly manner.
Mark stood near Chase, waiting for him to fly away as soon as the end of the interview came. Isaac and Henry were guarding the car and Seth took charge of the hallway, waiting if necessary, but for now Mark and Josh were everything. It was enough manpower. As long as Chase didn’t make a fuss.
It will soon be over, so let’s hang on. Josh thoughtfully took out a piece of candy and put it in his mouth. As he slowly rolled it into his mouth, waiting for Chase’s scent to fade, Duncan opened his mouth.
“… In fact, isn’t it all too common to have a character who degrades because his life is boring and ends his life? It is a strong but compelling role. It’s been a while so I don’t know if you’ll remember, but Miller played a similar role before, right?”
“Yes it’s correct. It was in his first movie.”
Duncan booed Chase when the interviewer answered.
“It was incredible. Thanks to you, I learned a lot that time.”
“Seriously? Thank you. What did you specifically learn?”
The interviewer continued the question because Chase didn’t open his mouth. But Duncan kept talking with his eyes fixed on Chase.
“Oh, you shouldn’t act like that. That’s what I thought.”
The air in the room froze coldly at that moment. Chase was still looking at him as numb as a doll, without a change of expression. Duncan continued speaking:
“You have to act to make a movie. But Mr. Miller wasn’t acting, he just showed himself as he was. Is this just a Chase Miller joke? I thought.”
Yes, unsurprisingly, Duncan was teasing Chase relentlessly.
This was the reason for the joint interview with Duncan, so the interviewer was delighted inside. The same thing happened with the magazine that wanted to use the star quality of Chase Miller to create an incident and get attention. The interviewer looked at Chase. On the one hand, he was afraid that the situation would be as expected. He waited impatiently for the answer, but couldn’t find any emotional turmoil in Chase. He just watched Duncan in silence.
Is the stimulus too weak?
Duncan and the interviewer had the same thoughts at the same time. Duncan was kind of drugged and the interviewer’s fears lessened a bit. Duncan continued speaking:
“In fact, I thought you might be more suitable for my role. You don’t have to act anyway. You just have to come and breathe, right? It will be easy for you too, and who would say anything? Just go and show yourself like you usually do in your daily life. Oh, but we are in a movie, right? You should at least act. That is what I learned. And, in addition, he did not agree to take off his clothes for the film.”
“Yes. I heard all those scenes were cut from the script in the first place.”
The interviewer added a few words. Duncan nodded with a smile.
“Unfortunately. Other rookie actors wouldn’t have even imagined correcting or deleting scenes from the script, but it’s great that he could. Is this possible because he is an Alpha? Or because he is a dominant Alpha?” He deftly insulted Chase.
He insulted him so subtly, but Chase’s posture never changed. His position was to continue giving a statement as if he hadn’t fully understood it. If it weren’t for being an Alpha dominant, he would never have gotten this far. Duncan meant it. He breathed and continued:
“Oh, of course I just said, How could Miller have gotten here with only natural luck when he was just breathing and had no ability or effort to act? It is not like this? LOL.”He laugh.
Josh’s face gradually turned pale as he watched the scene. Chase’s scent was getting stronger and stronger. There was no change in his expression, but Josh could tell that Chase was upset. He quickly took out more candies, poured them into his mouth two at a time, and chewed them out loud.
I wish it stopped now, Josh thought, but Duncan continued to taunt Chase.
“What is it, Mr. Miller? Are you confused right now because I told you the truth? Ah, there is nothing to be frustrated about. It is a fact that everyone knows well. What if Mr. Miller was born with incredible luck? Also, the ruling Alphas are full of money and women, right? Well, if you are not having sex, it is good to rationalize that the pheromone builds up and causes problems. Then it turned out that there was a rumor that Miller had done it with a dog, but who knows, maybe he ended up doing it with the dog because he had no other partner. Well, I understand everyone’s taste because there are many things. Maybe it’s what you like. There are dogs in Denmark who prostitute themselves, right? If you go there, you will find heaven. Of course, everyone wants to laugh at this.”
And he laughed once more. It was as if he had fallen in love with his jokes, but at that moment no one else laughed.
Mr. Conrad. This is too much, the interviewer thought to himself. When he looked at him nervously, Chase, who had only been watching Duncan without saying a word until then, suddenly sighed. At that moment, all the people looked at him carefully, holding their breath. Duncan stopped laughing too, but he didn’t seem scared. At last, his cheeks cooled a bit in anticipation of Chase’s response to his provocation.
Chase got up slowly. The scent of pheromones, flowing from his entire body, revealed his anger. The interviewer thought he would drop out of the study, but he was wrong. Chase walked directly to the chair where Duncan was sitting.
He was less than 10 steps away, but the sound of his shoes, which rang silently every time Chase moved his feet, echoed in everyone’s ears.
When he finally stopped in front of Duncan, there was the first sign of tension on Duncan’s face. No one expected what Chase was trying to do. Josh looked at Mark as he thought: Do you think he’s trying to hit him? Mark shook his head as if he seemed to understand. However, it was clear that they had to prepare for an unexpected situation anyway.
Josh approached them silently. Without even blinking, his eyes fixed solely on Chase. Slowly, Chase leaned in. Someone closed their mouth with their hand and swallowed a small sigh. Incredible things happened when the tension overflowed and the atmosphere became saturated.
Chase kissed Duncan.
…!
No one could speak. Everyone was shocked and just looked at them. The same thing happened with Duncan. The unexpected stiffened his entire body and he did not respond. It was difficult even to know if the situation that was happening was real. But it was neither a dream nor a fantasy. The sensation of the tongue, which came out of the lips in a daze, was too light. The sweet smell disturbed his mind. Duncan regretted the fact that he was a Beta. If he was an Omega, I could sleep with this beautiful man.
A dull sound came from inside the ear. Duncan blinked in bewilderment for a moment. Chase got up slowly. Duncan looked at him stunned and wondered. Chase’s colorful face was drenched in blood red. From mouth to chin, to be exact.
“Ahhhh!”
Duncan casually spat out something that was stuck in his mouth in an instant. At the same time, the transparent floor had turned red. Only then did Duncan realize that his tongue was cut in half. Chase whispered above him, his mouth shut and his hands full of wonder.
“Keep talking too much, you son of a bitch.”
Duncan’s face filled with fear for the first time. Chase laughed when his manager urgently called an ambulance and went crazy all over the place. Soon Chase’s high-pitched laugh filled the study. People looked at him scared, but he laughed and laughed. As if Duncan’s face was unbearably funny. His face turned pale with cold sweat behind him, as he smiled frantically, his eyes slanted.
✤✤✤✤✤✤
There was a heavy silence in the room. Everyone gathered in the reception room except Seth, who was in charge of the monitoring room after returning home, but no one spoke up, even after a while. Josh supposed they all had the same idea. Sure enough, after a while Isaac said in a voice duller than usual
“I’m afraid I can’t work because I’m scared.”
“Yes.”
Henry seldom sympathized with Isaac. Also, he didn’t curse. Of course it didn’t last a minute.
“What if that crazy bastard tries to kill us? Shit, he’s in the ambulance. Whoa, fuck! I covered his mouth with a towel, but the towel was red. No, fuck, honestly, does that make sense? It makes sense to cut a person’s tongue in half. Fuck! That crazy bastard has a boy. Oh come on, fuck it!”
He spat “fuck” five times in a row. But no one told him to hold back or to say it was too much. They simply sympathized in silence. Henry bent his head in his hands.
“If only I hadn’t lost that money … Ah, a fucking idiot.”
With the last oath of regret, he closed his mouth. The silence sank again. Mark closed his eyes and rubbed his forehead. The gruesome scene he saw earlier was still in front of his eyes, but he couldn’t show such signs. Regardless, he has to comfort his team and cover up the situation. After clearing his voice, Mark opened his mouth.
“We can’t help it, this is what we do. Chase Miller is the perpetrator instead of protecting him …”
Isaac exhaled angrily, but soon shook his head with a sigh. He also knew that there weren’t many words and choices Mark could make in the current situation. Everybody knew. That was the problem.
“I can’t help but wish the guard a speedy return.”
The fact was all that was also known. He just didn’t want to admit reality. The fact that they can never leave here until the contract ends. Mark kept his mouth shut.
“They have all signed. What can we do now? Chase Miller seems to have gotten worse than a few years ago, but what can I do now?”
His murmuring continued a bit wild. He couldn’t bear his anger. Mark, who groaned, added:
“Each of us will do what we have to do, and we will follow him in some way. We can’t resign,” he concluded with a vote for himself. “There was no alternative.”
In the dark atmosphere Josh got up.
“Where are you going?” Isaac asked.
Josh easily replied:
“To hang around. It’s my turn.”
Everyone took turns around the mansion and the garden at the appointed time. There was no point in sitting and protecting them forever, there were no alternatives. Josh left early and left the mansion.
Hoo.
As he inhaled the cold night air, he felt a little suffocated inside. Suddenly he wanted to see Pete so he pulled out his cell phone while still walking. He checked the time even though he already knew it, but nothing changed.
It was too late to call. The best thing was to see a video of a child after the patrol. How is Pete? Suddenly, when his heart ached, Josh stopped walking. An unexpected object was a few steps away. He immediately got nervous and tried to figure out who it was.
A licensed pistol had been inserted into his waist. Once he knew who it was, he would shoot him as soon as he saw any suspicious signs. Is there really a man who has dared to lie down in the garden of Chase Miller’s mansion? Josh’s shoulders relaxed the moment he realized who it was. It was Chase Miller, the person directly involved.
After such a ruckus during the day, he was quietly laying on the grass and enjoying the night breeze. Josh barely managed to hold his blocked breath. I really wanted to do all kinds of things. Are you going to blame someone if something happens while you’re shooting around a place like this? Josh, who frowned, soon corrected himself. Well, something happened in his garden. In addition, it is a mansion that guards and CCTV monitors all day. There was nothing wrong with his personal life. That was why he made it so easy for others to hold a grudge against him.
Of course Duncan was wrong to start. Everyone will think about it. However, the response was excessive. Thanks to you, now the man will never make fun of Chase again. No, nobody in the world can do it. Josh looked at Chase thinking. The vision of lying with his arms open, closing his eyes, and savoring the wind seemed more peaceful than anyone. He thought he might have fallen asleep at first sight. The evidence made him look like he was barely breathing. A calm, low breath probably made it seem that way.
Josh stared at him for a while. It was weird. Now Chase looked as pure and fragile as an angel, even though he saw just a few hours ago how cruel and shameless he was. Wasn’t he here now after laughing like crazy with his face soaked in blood? So where the hell did that Chase Miller disappear?
Josh was suddenly curious. Chase’s sweet pheromones mingled with the wind and faintly passed to the tip of his nose. He had to take out the candy and put it in his mouth, but he stayed there. The hesitant gaze turned to Chase’s face. The pale cheeks with long lashes were colorless. He even thought he wouldn’t find it if it snowed. Suddenly, when a corner of his heart moved, Chase opened his eyes. At that moment, Josh hesitated. He was not asleep. He lay there, holding his breath. Chase’s gaze moved slowly to Josh. For a moment, the two of them just looked at each other without saying anything. Suddenly Josh almost caught up with him.
Fortunately, he immediately realized his mistake and stopped moving, but it turned out to be a disaster. Chase was still looking at him. As if trying to know if the person in front of him was fantasy or reality. Maybe he was still half asleep. Josh coughed quickly,
“Hmm. If you’re staying here, can I get you a blanket?”
Chase didn’t reply.
With the fact that he was still ignoring him, he remembered the silence that continued before biting Duncan’s tongue. Maybe I shouldn’t have talked to him. When the spine suddenly shook, Chase distorted his forehead.
As if he had just realized reality. The silence that followed this time was different from before. Josh wanted to escape an unusual atmosphere. As he took a step back, Chase opened his mouth.
“No,” he whispered as low as his breath. “I do not need it.”
That was it.
Josh was unexpectedly surprised by the calmness of his reaction. You don’t have to say you’re going. It was when he was trying to scoot out of his seat by backing up. Chase opened his mouth suddenly.
“If you want to see me, do so.”
“Ah?”
Josh hesitated at the unexpected words.
Seeing him, Chase twisted his mouth to sneer. To the puzzled Josh, Chase still spoke in a dying voice.
“It’s fascinating, look at all you want. It’s amazing to see a dominant Alpha, right?”
Josh blinked in embarrassment.
“I don’t do that, turn people into a show. Also, talking about your client’s appearance and personal life is against professional ethics.”
His tone of speech became harsh on its own. He was disgusted with the fact that the work he was proud of was treated this way. Chase looked at Josh’s face, which turned serious. The purple eyes with their half-lids stayed with him endlessly. Although he apparently intended to refute it, Josh was exhausted. Was this the reaction of the fisherman who heard the siren’s song?
That man seemed to do what he was told if he just raised a finger.
Then Chase held out his hand. It was about shaking a hand slightly, but that was enough. There will be no one in this world who can reject that hand.
It was hard to tell if it was the pheromone or his face that made him so distracted. All that was for sure was that he would certainly regret it if he didn’t do what he wanted now.
” …!”
As he got closer, Chase suddenly raised his upper body and tugged on Josh’s hand. Josh collapsed onto his body without making a sound.
“What…!”
Embarrassed, Josh raised his head and was mesmerized. Chase was staring at himself with narrowed eyes. The usual perfectly styled hair was now messy, and the pale cheeks were slightly flushed. On top of that, the watery purple eyes sparkled as if they were catching the moonlight. Josh stopped breathing. With that sweet, frantic face, Chase looked at Josh and opened his mouth.
“Do you want to kiss me?”
At that moment, Josh’s heart sank. Chase’s sleek face appeared from a wide view. His white fingers touched Josh’s neck. Slowly, his hands tensed and Josh bowed his head as he led. As Chase’s lips drew closer, the vision of Duncan spilling blood came into his eyes. I too could lose my tongue. Fear and excitement surged through him simultaneously.
He kissed Duncan just before that. All kinds of emotions swirled with absurd jealousy and shame. But amid the confusion, he couldn’t resist Chase. Rather, he bowed his head as he led. Chase’s long, drooping lashes came into view. Josh closed his eyes, followed by a warm breath on his lips. Ah, Chase opened his mouth when he spoke as low as a sigh.
“Motherfucker. It is a good option whenever you are dreaming, right?”
Josh opened his eyes and looked at him. Chase kept looking at Josh, but his face was filled with scorn and mockery. The last Josh realized that Chase had made fun of him.
“… Ah.”
He got up hastily, moaning like a sigh. Chase just looked at him like that.
Josh looked at him, wiping his lips, standing in the distance. Little by little, his face lit up and his eyes burned. The wind was cold, but the body was still warm. He had to say something, but couldn’t think of anything. It was indistinguishable whether it was due to a feeling of contempt or regret.
When he managed to calm down, only discouragement remained. One day, Chase, who had returned to his usual doll look, was looking at Josh. Josh, who was still in front of him, suddenly smiled bitterly. Chase hesitated and frowned.
“… You almost cut out my tongue.”
Chase said nothing in his usual calm voice. He looked at him as if his mind had been twisted. Josh spoke insignificantly:
“You’re good? You don’t have to go back to the room.”
Chase, who was looking at him, laughed as if to despise him. Josh casually said goodbye and turned his back on him. Still, Chase didn’t say anything. I’m going to escape.
The pace gradually quickened as he progressed step by step. Chase’s gaze seemed to linger behind his back.
He was running before he knew it. You must flee. He thought that man would catch him the day he stopped walking. Then what will happen? He managed to get into the house and quickly closed the door behind him, breathing heavily. In an instant there was silence. In the hall, wide enough to be vast, only the sound of his own poor breathing echoed grim. Of course, Chase didn’t follow in his footsteps. A sense of relief came along with the emptiness.
“Control yourself, idiot.”
Josh deliberately swore.
Pushing the leftover candy into his mouth in one go, he thought over and over again. Never be fooled by that man. Not for anyone but that Chase Miller.
