He’s basically dragging the conversation back to the reality of their situation and forcing Taekjoo to confront his real motive. It’s like he’s asking, “What do you actually want? Your mission… or something else?”
That’s why the moment feels so intense and strange. Zhenya doesn’t respond normally when he’s emotionally affected — he responds with control, provocation, and double meanings. That line shows how he turns even a soft moment into psychological tension.
